In the year 2023, Accent Wall provides us with a reiteration of their old standard, “Casing.” Does this thus prove Accent Wall’s premature entry into a late career cannibalization phase? We remain undecided, but offer the following defense:
Repeating the past has often been a collective concern among those Concerned. Those Unconcerned have often ventured to squeeze the past until the juicy spoils of memory reveal themselves for further enhancement. Accent Wall is among the so-called Unconcerned. To take these artifacts from the past and with them strike anew a mold of expanded vision is a way to illuminate what came before. In the long line of the Unconcerned, Accent Wall is nothing more than a simpleton in reflective clothing, perhaps longing to acquire a concern of being unconcerned.
Yet questions remain. In taking the initial document and expanding outwardly to advance, enrich, or augment it, what would occur if one were to condense said document? That is to say, to constrict, or speaking in terms of juices, squeeze or crush. Mercifully, this question will not be answered today, as we can only know of what has become of “Casing” within the paradoxically titled “Encasing.” Perhaps once Accent Wall has fulfilled all other commitments to its upcoming yearly documents, there may be an opportunity for a good squeezing. Perhaps a crushed “Decasing.” The future holds too much promise. And too much information.
For further investigations into this particularly sensitive area, please consider this oddity from Accent Wall’s 2021 release Odds (2008-2018) as a nomination for a “Decasing”:
